This is the second Giles 202 I have owned. I owned the "Primal Fear" airplane, N202MK, for a couple of years. It wasn't until after I had sold it back to the gentleman I bought it from that I realized it was by far the most enjoyable airplane I had flown in 40 years making a living as a pilot, including the military jets. I was lucky enough, thanks to Brandon McNeilus, to get another chance.

G200s Invade Pendleton

Five Giles G200s were present for the 2011 Beaver State contest in Pendleton OR... that's gotta be some kind of a record!

Photos by DJ Molny. (L to R, both photos): C-FAMP (Charlie Teeuwsen), N354TF (Lew Shattuck), N571WF (Mac Engh), N200PD (Phil Deturck), and N220DJ (DJ Molny.)

N200PD

Phil Deturck built this highly modified G-200. The seat has been moved aft to accommodate his long legs, the standard tip-over canopy is now hinged at the rear, and it sports Wittman-style landing gear that attach to the engine mount instead of the standard spring steel bar.

N202FD

The Giles 202 N202FD was built by Acrotech in Darois, France. The serial number by Acrotech is #4.

The kit was part of several bought by CAP/Acrotech to form the base for the CAP 222. After it became clear that there are fundamental changes are needed to become CS 23 compliant, Acrotech decided to build the original kits as Giles 202s and sell them.

The original engine and propeller have been replaced by a Lycon engine and a MTV-9 propeller to improve performance.

The photos below show both the original and new paint schemes.

This is serial number 8, which was the second kit shipped. I received the first box of parts in the summer of 1996, made the first flight in spring of 2003. I have been giving joy rides to many people since then, have only done 2 contests.

N220DJ

Len Fox is the builder of record for this plane, kit #18. It's one of the kits that was "rescued" and completed when Akrotech closed its doors.

I don't know who the original owner was. Based on FAA records, Brian Beaudry bought the plane in 2004 and registered it as N200BX. Then in 2005 Pete McLeod imported it to Canada as C-GPNM and used it to fly airshows.

I purchased the plane in early October 2010, and with the help of Walt Plentus received the airworthiness certificate on 10/22/2010. I'm very excited to be part of the G-200 community, and am having a blast getting to know my new bird!

G200 Project nears completion in Germany

Martin Osswald in Wallerstein, Germany writes that his G200 project is nearly ready to fly.

N352S

Tom and Dan Franscioni own this G202 serial 61 based in Salinas, CA. Sean DeRosier finished the plane in 2003 and sold it to Tom and Dan in 2005 with 65 hours.

It competes in Advanced with Tom at the controls and Intermediate with Dan flying. They have about 600 hours on the Giles now. It is powered by a modified IO-360 parallel valve and 200C Whirlwind prop.
